Coming Soon: Comcast Rant

I’ve been attempting to add digital voice to my account for about a week.  It’s not going so well.  I’ve probably spent a good hour or two on the phone with them for them to either not know much about anything or for the rep to be fairly dismissive.

I’m thinking about calling Verizon.

If the Comcast bots are scanning this, feel free to contact me.

UPDATE:  I will be calling Verizon tomorrow morning to see how cheap their cheapest option is.

It's really scary when not only lawyers – but police officers tell you not to talk to them

StarLight

Even though I’m not digging the new channel lineup on Sirius (give me The Beat back!), I still have other stations I listen to and am probably not going to cancel at least for now.

A while back, I wrote about StarPlayr.  They just released StarLight.  A more barebones Sirius Desktop Player for the Mac.  I’m liking it so far.  It’s in beta right now but I haven’t experienced any issues in my limited time using it.

Follow the progress on Twitter and make sure to check out the app.

Initial thoughts…

HOW DO I CANCEL?!?

The Dell Mini 9

I just received our Dell Mini 9 on Friday morning.  I’m going to carry it with me for the next couple weeks (considering even taking it to a competitor of Dell’s headquarters when I go for a briefing – their leadership decided we’re ineligible to have access to their “consumer” class line of products).

My first impressions are somewhat mixed.  I like the idea of the netbook but I already have a MacBook Pro which isn’t hard to carry or travel with to begin with.  When I don’t have my MacBook Pro, I always have my iPhone which I have somewhat already started taking notes at meetings on rather than lugging the laptop.  In some instances, I still prefer a pad of paper and a trusty pen.

I’m starting to get the hang of where the keys are located since it’s not a full sized keyboard.  The most troublesome key I had locating so far was the apostrophe.  I’ve also hit escape a couple of times when I’ve intended to hit the [1] key.

At any rate, check back soon for my updated review.

"The West Wing" and Barack Obama

All campaign season, I’ve been astonished at some of the similarities between the last couple seasons of “The West Wing” where you see the election campaign trail. Some of the instances of similarity are uncanny. To my surprise, it’s no coincidence.

When Eli Attie, a writer for “The West Wing,” prepared to plot some episodes about a young Democratic congressman’s unlikely presidential bid, he picked up the phone and called David Axelrod.

Mr. Attie, a former speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore, and Mr. Axelrod, a political consultant, had crossed campaign trails before. “I just called him and said, ‘Tell me about Barack Obama,’ ” Mr. Attie said.

The "Sad Grandpa"

I think we’ve already seen quite a bit of the “Sad Grandpa” strategy.
