Stop Motion – Human Skateboard

I just thought this was pretty neat and thought I’d share.

A stop motion human skateboard.

Gov. Quinn visits Illinois State University

Gov. Quinn visited Illinois State University for our Founder’s Day last week. The Brown Ballroom is one floor below my office… kinda cool.

A little slow on the uptake… ISU's Reaction to Obama's Victory

I was just browsing around YouTube and started doing some searches on the area and the University…  I heard that the students took to the streets

The last time I’ve seen something like this was when the White Sox won the World Series in ‘05.

The UK gets it… What's wrong with the United States??

Apparently, Fred Phelps and his daughter are banned from the UK

Fred Phelps and his daughter Shirley Phelps-Roper had announced plans to travel to the UK to protest a staging of the play [The Laramie Project]. But were banned from entering the country. According a border agency spokesperson, Phelps and his daughter are not allowed to enter the country because their “extremist” hate is considered dangerous.

“Both these individuals have engaged in unacceptable behavior by inciting hatred against a number of communities,” a U.K. Border Agency spokesperson told the Telegraph last week. “The Government has made it clear it opposes extremism in all its forms.

A whopping one protester showed up to protest the play…

More things that happened when Phelps protested Matthew Shepard should happen more often.

USirius for iPhone – Coming Soon!

I have a couple of posts about NiceMac’s StarPlayr and StarLightXM and have been really looking forward to the release of USirius for iPhone.  I listen to Sirius in the car, online at work, online at home and from my plug-n-play set.

I’ve been checking the website almost daily for an update from them and also checking the iTunes Store.

The news is promising, the app has been submitted and hopefully released soon.

Update

Dead Like Me: Life After Death

Ever since I first tried Netflix and Blockbuster By Mail and now back to Netflix with online streaming, I’ve become a huge fan of TV on DVD.  I’ve been catching up too!

While in Mexico a few years ago for my brother’s wedding, when back in the room late at night trying to sober up a little before bed, Dead Like Me was on tv.  I found it odd that I was watching more shows form the U.S. while in Mexico than I did while I was actually in the U.S.

About nine months ago, I came across Dead Like Me while browsing through the DVD catalog (I was using Blockbuster By Mail at this point) and got the first disk of Season 1.  I was hooked immediately.  As soon as I was done with the first disk, I didn’t want to wait for my queue to catch up and went to the local store and traded in my mailed DVD for an in-store exchange for the remaining disks.

Sadly, the show only lasted two seasons.  I think the show had a lot of potential and the episodes touched on a wide variety of topics and human nature and emotion.

A few days ago, Dead Like Me: Life After Death, a direct to DVD movie was released.  It’s in my queue for Netflix, but I’m not sure if I can wait.  I definitely want the DVD vs. buying it via the iTunes store since I’m hoping there’s some awesome special features on the DVD!

At any rate, check out the trailer below and pick up the movie and Seasons 1 and 2!

GOP Governors Consider Turning Down Stimulus Money – Please Do!

Granted, I haven’t read the full article, it’s revealed that some governors have been considering turning down money from the stimulus.  Like the governor in Texas who almost turned down the money…

But GOP governors, PLEASE turn down the stimulus money!  There’ll be more for the rest of us!  Except for the fact that the rest of us will have to give you more money later when you’re begging for it…

Mac malware tide on the rise? OR The Mac Malware Myth

This was a good read of a pretty strong opinion.

I can honestly say that while I have access to anti-virus software for my Mac at home, I haven’t installed it…

According to proponents of the Mac Malware Myth, Mac users should be afraid of a series of reports about a “rising tide” of malicious software and in panicked response, install anti-virus software from the vendors who propagate those dire warnings. They’re wrong, here’s why.

At any rate… check out the article from RouglyDrafted Magazine.

A danger of Facebook's notes…

I find it really ironic that I have seen news organizations talking about the Facebook notes such as “25 Things” when these types of bulletins have been around on MySpace since, well… since pretty much you could post a bulletin and have not drawn any attention.

I find that the potential danger in the Facebook note postings are that in the instructions, you are told to tag some friends.  That means that they receive a notice (whether it be in the form of email or just a notification on the site) that they have been “tagged” or “talked about” in the note.

This can definitely leave some of those who have either been tagged or just those who see the activity that you have the new note stumbling across some information that they have not necessarily been made aware of.  It can also lead to an opinion, which was otherwise unknown, be divulged.

And boy, when it happens, you’re not sure whether to keep it in or strike out.  Some responses regarding the postings others have posted have been:

Wow, how can somebody be that self absorved and conceited?

The whole world really doesn’t revolve around you!

Way to take other people’s generosity for granted and turn it into a bitch slap!

Keep on tagging Facebookers!
