Allstate's Average Savings vs. Geico

If you haven’t seen an Allstate ad on tv then I’d be surprised.

I even received a direct mail piece inviting to me visit the website or call in for a no-obligation quote.

It even lists an average savings comparison and lists Geico, my current auto insurance as being able to save more than $473 for 7 out of 10 customers. Problem with that is $473 is higher than my current premium. Allstate, with my current coverage amounts, was well over $100 higher… guess I’m one of the 3 of 10 that Allstate just can’t save for.

Windmill Failure

Living near a wind farm, I’ve always wondered what happens should one not function just quite right…

These things are definitely impressive!

At least they're honest

As advertised, if it were a bit cheaper, I just might buy one to say I officially have it!

Good luck on your test… don't forget, a 14-inch pizza is only $5

You have to give credit where it’s due… and one teacher in Idaho had a pretty good idea. Selling the footer space of the paper he uses for his class to a business to help subsidize paper costs.

Doing a quick search on Google, I found that this wasn’t necessarily a new idea, but still a good one at that. Here’s another article for a similar thing but this teacher used a business model.

At 3 cents a page, his tests would cost more than $500 a year. His copying budget: $316.

$10 for a quiz, $20 for a chapter test, $30 for a semester final.

Gov. Quinn visits Illinois State University

Gov. Quinn visited Illinois State University for our Founder’s Day last week. The Brown Ballroom is one floor below my office… kinda cool.

A little slow on the uptake… ISU's Reaction to Obama's Victory

I was just browsing around YouTube and started doing some searches on the area and the University…  I heard that the students took to the streets

The last time I’ve seen something like this was when the White Sox won the World Series in ‘05.

Shocked but not surprised…

I’m shocked but not surprised to learn that the NSA, based on this report, has spied not just on selected individuals but also on everyone.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if the monitoring went even further to instant messages, text messages, public places, etc…  We’ll see if the Obama administration will respond directly to this or if it will let the Bush holdovers do the talking.

iPhone/iPod touch Top Paid App – Really? C'mon.

I really don’t know what it says about people in the US iTunes Store.  The top paid app is iFart Mobile (link opens up the app store).  Really people?  Really?  This has to be a joke.  I really don’t understand how enough people would pay for this app to keep it at #1.

I’d be ok without any more snow.  EVER.

The Old Switcheroo

Good parenting is rare these days… even in Utah, go figure.

Charges filed this week in 3rd District Court say the woman drove recklessly on Nov. 28 through a Costco parking lot in West Valley City. Authorities said she hit a curb and blew out a tire in the process.

The charges said witnesses told police she then switched places with her 15-year-old daughter so the girl would be in the driver’s seat when police got there.
